Roma Airport Expansion
Roma Airport’s dramatic expansion includes a new terminal building, visitor and staff parking, bus terminal. Landscape design included provision of shade trees and screening to the carpark perimeter, feature gardens at the front of the new terminal building and passenger waiting area gardens flight side. Future works include landscaping to the bus terminal and carpark entry area and entry drive gardens accommodating sculptural spheres and curved weathered steel feature walls all designed by LARK.
Tuckers Creek Pedestrian Bridge, Mooloolaba
Stage 1 of the Tuckers Creek Bridge project has recently been constructed on the Brisbane Road approach to Mooloolaba. Gerard Canavan was responsible for the pedestrian bridge component of the overall bridge design. This included design of a multiple function handrail for pedestrian and cyclists safety incorporating the use of thin metal fins to provide a sculptural yet lightweight outer edge emphasizing the vista into the creek. Feature lighting elements were included to reduce bridge lighting elements the pedestrian scale and further contribute to the sculptural feel of the pedestrian bridge element.
Gerard Canavan was project leader on this project, during his time with Deicke Richards Brisbane based design firm.
Maroochy Interchange Landscape
The Maroochy Interchange landscape design was jointly undertaken DTMR & SCC. Gerard Canavan was asked to provide an independant cost analysis of the proposed works. Both landscape construction companies and landcare organisations were analysed for best pricing, resourcing and methodology competitiveness.
